In a battle of the giants it is often difficult to discern who the winner will be and that is sort of the case we have between A2 Hosting and Hostinger. Both are very recognizable names in the web hosting business and have been around since the early 2000s.
A2 Hosting has stayed true to its roots in Ann Arbour, Michigan while Hostinger has spread out a little bit across dozen of countries, but both offer server choices in various key locations to their users – in the US, Europe and Asia.
Our A2 Hosting & Hostinger Ratings
A2 Hosting – Better Server Speed Features & Performance
TL;DR: A2 Hosting is better than Hostinger in term of:
- Shared hosting speed features
- Overall hosting server performance
Both Hostinger and A2 have very stable performance – both have been tested to be able to stay above the industry standard of 99.95% uptime.
A2 Hosting, however, appeals to the tech aficionados by having specialized advances across most plans, such as their unlimited NVMe SSD storage and A2 Optimized technology which helps speed up Content Management System based sites like WordPress, Drupal and Joomla.
A2 Hosting Speed Features
A2 Hosting Speed Test Results
Speed is one of the key performance indicators. To determine A2Hosting’s speed, we host a simple website at A2 Hosting and run regular speed tests on different tools – and I was impressed with A2 Hosting servers. Overall speed results consistently showed outstanding ratings on both Bitcatcha and WebPageTest.org.
Hostinger – Cheaper & Easier for Newbies
TL;DR: Hostinger is better compare to A2 Hosting in:
- Pricing – Cheaper shared and VPS hosting plans; .xyz domain starts at just $0.99
- User-friendliness – Easy onboarding process with Zyro Site Builder (additional cost)
- Crypto payment supported – Pay your hosting bill via Coingate
Shared Hosting Starts at $1.99/mo
With availability exceeding that of A2 Hosting, users who go with Hostinger will find themselves spoilt for choice since they have as many as eight data centers spread across the world. On these are offered hosting plans for what I personally feel are dirt-cheap prices starting at only $1.99 a month (if you buy-in for 48 months!).
Hostinger: Cheap .xyz domain
Another significant plus for Hostinger is that you can get some impressively cheap domain names from them. They offer some domains starting from as low as $0.99, such as .tech and .xyz domains. These might not be top quality extensions but even some of their other TLDs come cheaper than usual.
Wide Payment Methods
Hostinger supports all sorts of payment methods – credit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, AliPay, or even crypto currencies.
Final Thoughts: Hostinger or A2 Hosting?
At the end of the day, almost everything boils down to dollars and cents. In this, Hostinger leads by a mile compared to A2 Hosting. Yet because of the server speed performance difference and other areas such as support, I feel that Hostinger isn’t really for everyone.
For new users, Hostinger can be the ideal playground even you intend to swim in the kiddy pool for as long as four years (to get those rock bottom prices). If you’re a business user, my feeling is that you better be prepared to pony up and go for a solid plan on A2 Hosting with all the bells and whistles.
More About Hostinger
Some of you may not recognize the name Hostinger, but rest assured, they’ve been around for quite some time (they changed their name a few times). Yet despite its initial naming hiccups the brand has exploded and today plays host to over 29 million users.
