Bethesda delays Starfield and Redfall until 2023

Bethesda has delayed Starfield and Redfall until 2023 to give both titles more time in the oven.

Breaking the news on social media, the Microsoft-owned studio said it wants to ensure the teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have the chance to deliver the “best, most polished” versions of their respective projects.

Starfield had been slated to launch on November 11, 2022, and Bethesda director Todd Howard previously said the company was “confident” it would be able to hit that target during an interview with The Washington PostRedfall, meanwhile, was handed a tentative “Summer 2022” launch date.

Both games will now launch in the first half of 2023 and are the latest notable projects to be hit with delays. Earlier this year, for instance, Nintendo chose to delay its The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel until 2023, while Activision has also reportedly pushed next year’s Call of Duty title to 2024.
